Project Description
This project involved the development and scaling of technology from laboratory to commercial scale. It encompassed the design of equipment at various scales, including laboratory, bench, pilot, and commercial. The process focused on conditioning residues, separating contaminants for clean sugar feedstock streams, catalytic hydrotreating for bio-glycols and polyols production, and the separation of pure products through crystallization and distillation. Scale-up considerations covered reactors, separation technologies, and recycling loops in controlled temperature and pressure environments. Access control and IP security were integral, and government funding agencies like SDTC, BC Innovative Clean Energy Fund, SRED, and IRAP were involved.
Project Scope
The project's scope extended across technology development, scaling, and equipment design for laboratory, bench, pilot, and commercial scales. The process intricately addressed residue conditioning, contaminant separation, catalytic hydrotreating, and the separation of products. Scale-up considerations included reactors, separation technologies, and recycling loops in controlled environments. Integral aspects like access control and IP security were integrated, with involvement from various government funding agencies, including SDTC, BC Innovative Clean Energy Fund, SRED, and IRAP.
