Project Description:
Beatrice NE
: SDE was the technical expert evaluator to participate in the independent review of the business and technical components of a 2nd-generation biodiesel production and refining platform for the first commercial installation using Benefuel’s proprietary technology. In addition, SDE supported plant commissioning, start-up and operations oversight and direction.

SDE also provided an ‘as-is’ assessment and identified methods to de-bottleneck the system.

Kuantan: SDE performed all engineering from FEL-2 through FEL-3 for the retrofit of an existing biodiesel production plant to utilize Benefuel’s technology.

Indonesia: SDE produced a FEED package for a fully modular commercial plant to use PFAD, SPO, and OPEFB oils.

Sarnia, ON: SDE helped Benefuel to secure over $20 Million in funding for a new 75 MMLPY plant to be located in Sarnia, ON. SDE also was responsible for all engineering activities and deliverables to reach an AACE Class II TIC cost estimate.

SDE was responsible for reviewing vendor designs and coordinating process conditions, civil design and plant layout, foundations, piping and electrical interconnections, procurement support, and supervisory controls. SDE also prepared permit submissions for the BC Oil and Gas Commission (BCOGC).

Project: Hydrogen Recovery & Utilization System

Project Description:

  • Sacré-Davey Engineering delivered an integrated waste hydrogen gas collection, purification, and compression, storage and distribution facility. Flow up to 5,500,000 scfd of hydrogen need to be collected from 2 separate sources, dehydrated, scrubbed of contaminants using SDE’s proprietary ScrubTechTM technology and ultimately purified using Pressure Swing Adsorption Technology.

  • Purified gas was compressed to 5000 psig using a combination of reciprocating and diaphragm compressors and stored in carbon fiber-reinforced aluminum storage tanks. Overflow gas is piped to combustion in a boiler.

  • Sacré-Davey Engineering provided full project scope definition, project management, engineering, HAZOP and instrumentation.
